Description

A state-of-the-art, $190 million, preeminent nano- and biomaterial science research facility calls for highly specialized HVAC equipment. To accommodate stringent temperature and pressure specifications on-time and on-budget, Penn State and engineer WSP Flack + Kurtz tapped EJS New York for a custom-engineered solution for its Nano-Bio Complex in University Park, PA. EJS New York provided Haakon Industries Energy-Recovery Units, designed with high-efficiency Thermotech Enterprises Energy-Recovery Wheels. This equipment saved the client approximately 20 to 30 percent of the full load tonnage and was selected due to its superior ability to recover energy from waste-air streams.

The LEED-certified, 350,000-square-foot facility is the single-largest investment in the school’s 150-year history. Thanks to a tailored HVAC solution from EJS New York, the more than 125 faculty and researchers housed inside can now solve the mysteries of science in one of the most energy-efficient and cool environments on the market today.
