This project initially posed a series of challenges: manpower shortage due to the pandemic, tight schedule and limited space on the high-rise’s rooftop. We carefully evaluated the situation and decided with the client on a prefab approach.
Our team then worked with Epsilon Industries and built 3 large pre-constructed switchgear rooms encompassing all needed equipment in only about 4 weeks, thanks to the concurrent and thus more efficient workflow in the factory. When these modular rooms were shipped to the site, they were directly lifted to the rooftop in 6 crane picks, as opposed to 10 crane picks and 45 pieces of other equipment (plus all associated conduits & wires) in client’s original estimate.
Prefabricated approach helped us save a great amount of time, field work, labor cost, and allowed this project to bypass all limitations and be completed on schedule.
